Accessibility
Accessibility statement
Everyone should be able to book an appointment online – with a screen reader, with the keyboard only or with strong magnification. Under § 14 and Annex 3 of the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG), this statement explains how online booking with appoint4u works, how accessible it is, what does not work well yet and how to reach us.
Last updated: 20 October 2026
What this statement covers
Hair salons, practices, workshops and other businesses use appoint4u to offer their appointments online. This statement covers:
- the businesses' booking pages (appoint4u.com/name-of-the-business) with every step of the booking,
- the booking a business embeds on its own website,
- the personal page for your appointment, where you move or cancel it,
- the emails about your appointment and
- this website, appoint4u.com.
PLUS TradeCon GmbH provides the technology behind these pages, which is why we prepare this statement for every booking page. Each business is responsible for the content it enters itself, such as the descriptions of its services.
Not covered are the businesses' own websites, the WhatsApp and Telegram apps, and the customer area where businesses manage their appointments.
How online booking works
You need no account, no password and no app. Booking takes up to four steps:
- Choose a service, for example a haircut. Its duration is shown with it, usually its price too.
- Choose a team member – or “No preference”. If the business does not show its team, this step is left out.
- Choose a day and a time. Only free times are shown; later days are in the month calendar.
- Enter your name, phone number and email address and reserve the appointment.
You then see the confirmation and receive it by email – with a personal link to move or cancel the appointment for as long as the business allows that online. Some businesses confirm every booking themselves first; you then see “Request sent” and hear their decision by email or message.
The booking pages are available in German, English, Turkish, Arabic, Russian, Ukrainian and Polish; Arabic reads right to left. You choose the language at the top of the page.
There is no time limit while you fill in the form and no picture puzzle: the check against automated requests runs invisibly in your browser.
The standard we work to
The benchmark is the requirements of the ordinance to the BFSG (BFSGV) and the European standard EN 301 549. For websites, the standard refers to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). We follow WCAG 2.2 at Level AA, which the current version EN 301 549 V4.1.1 refers to; it also covers the WCAG 2.1 requirements of the previous version V3.2.1.
For booking, this means above all:
- Everything can be operated with the keyboard. A clearly visible outline shows where you are; “Skip to content” skips the navigation.
- Headings, regions, buttons and form fields are marked up so that screen readers read them correctly. Every field has a visible label.
- Form errors are shown as text at the field and are read out. Your browser can fill in your name, email address and phone number automatically.
- Text and controls have enough contrast – including in the colour a business chooses for its page.
- You can zoom the pages a lot; they adapt to any screen width without sideways scrolling.
- Buttons and links are large enough to hit reliably.
- If you have set “Reduce motion” on your device, animations are left out.
- Texts are marked with their language so that screen readers pronounce them correctly.
How far the requirements are met
According to our own review, the booking pages and this website largely meet the requirements, but not yet fully. What is still missing is listed in the next section.
This is based on a self-assessment of 20 October 2026: automated tests with the axe-core checker and checks in the Chromium browser (the basis of Chrome and Edge) – keyboard only, at 200 % and 400 % zoom, with wider line and letter spacing, at phone and desktop widths and with reduced motion. We reviewed the home page, the pricing page, the contact form, sign-in and registration, every step of a booking including the month calendar – in Arabic too –, the booking page's privacy information and legal notice, the page for moving and cancelling, the embedded booking and this statement. We have fixed the errors we found.
Still outstanding are tests with screen readers and other assistive technology, in Firefox and Safari, in Windows contrast mode and with voice control, and a review by an independent body.
What is not accessible yet
- Page language: English pages and booking pages in a language other than German tell the browser their language only once they have finished loading. Without JavaScript, or in the first moments, the page counts as German; the texts themselves are marked with the right language.
- Businesses' content: each business enters the names and descriptions of its services, details of its team, its logo and its legal notice itself. These texts appear as the business wrote them – also when you read the page in another language – and are not marked with their language. We cannot check in detail whether they are easy to understand.
- Maps: if a business has embedded a map from OpenStreetMap or Google Maps, it comes from the map provider and is not fully accessible. The address is therefore always shown as text next to it, often with a link for directions.
- Other providers' services: Google Calendar (for adding your appointment), a business's website and social media profiles, and the WhatsApp and Telegram apps come from other providers. We have not tested their accessibility and cannot influence it.
- Strong zoom: at 400 % zoom, the fixed bars at the top and bottom of the booking page take up a lot of space; on small screens the bar with the buttons can partly cover an element. Booking remains possible. On this website, the cookie notice covers a large part of the screen at strong zoom until you close it.
- Languages: the legal pages of appoint4u and the booking pages' privacy information exist in German and English only, the businesses' legal notices mostly in German only. There is no version in Easy Language (Leichte Sprache) or German Sign Language.
- Emails: we check the colours and contrast of the emails about your appointment automatically. We have not yet tested them with screen readers or in the various email programs, nor the calendar file for your appointment.
- Other pages of this website, such as features, industries and help, have not been reviewed one by one. They use the same building blocks as the pages we reviewed.
How to book without the booking page
If the booking page does not work for you, arrange your appointment directly with the business – by phone or email. The phone number and email address are at the bottom of every booking page and in the business's legal notice. If the business offers WhatsApp or Telegram, you can also write to it there or send a voice message.
You move or cancel an appointment the same way: through your appointment link or directly with the business.
If you cannot find any contact details, write to us at support@appoint4u.com. We will tell you how to reach the business or pass your message on to it.
Report a barrier
Have you come across a barrier, or do you need information in another form? Write to us at support@appoint4u.com. Please give the address of the page and briefly describe what did not work. We reply as soon as we can, fix the problem and in the meantime help you get your appointment another way.
